Ketoconazole shampoo is the antifungal shampoo, it is used to treat fungal infections caused by fungi on the scalp.
It also reduces dandruff by reducing the fungus and inflammation which is caused by them.
ketoconazole used in the tinea capitis; it is the condition that is caused by the overgrowth of yeast on the scalp.

Mechanism of Action

Ketoconazole prevents the synthesis of ergosterol, which is similar to cholesterol therefore increasing the fluidity and preventing the growth of fungus.
It inhibits the enzyme 14 alpha demethylase which involves the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol here, ergosterol is the component of the fungus cell membrane
